Marabunta

At the last page of the rulebook you’ll find some interesting information about my favorite designer, dr Reiner Knizia. In addition to about 800 board games (more precisely, at least 725, registered on BGG), he is the author of very interesting books related to our beloved hobby. In that sense, what Novak Djokovic and Reiner have in common? You guessed it – records. Records that will hardly ever be broken.

Classic as Deep Purple, and modern like Taylor Swift, good doctor – Knizia made millions of people around the World happy since 80’s of the last century. And he did it again with “Marabunta”.

Yesterday, when we opened the small box of “Marabunta”, we knew, good dr never deceived us – air was never sold in his packages. But necessary gaming oxygen – yes. For reasonable price, he again offered to families, all ages, die hard gamers, what he knows best – eternal fun. The ultimate fun which doesn’t come from complex rules, expensive miniatures, or yellow eggs, purple eggs (“Wyrmspan”, I’m looking at you;). On the contrary, what makes RK my favorite designer is the fact that you’ll never have to read rulebook for any of his games twice, they’re easy and precise. And this is where we come to most important thing, the excitement and weight, if you want that at all, comes from those you play his board games with. Yes, Reiner leaves to all kind of players a vast, wondrous world in each of his games to explore, to create, improvise, make miracles and to enjoy.
“Marabunta” is a wonderful board game, everything we’ve loved about Knizia, for years. It’s game for two and for everyone. With someone who has no experience or against some of the most experienced gamers, you’ll surely have as much fun as we did. Roll&divide, I cut you choose mechanism, area majority, dice rolling, rich gameplay of only 30-40 minutes, full of fun, agonizing but quick decisions. The good doctor is a hit again and if the guys from SUSD could give two pears to the game “Earthborne rangers”, than I can certainly give “Marabunta”my bell. Not one, two! 🙂
